Past Futures, and edible insect dinner

This pop up event is a collaborative effort between me, Monica Martinez, and Illya Haro. In this collaboration, we were interested creating an eating experience that would create a dialogue for guests to taste pre-colombian ingredients with insects as sustainable protein futures. We presented our concepts as eating landscapes at the O2 Artisans Aggregate.

All design contributions were created exclusively for the February 8, 2018 Pop Up Dinner.
Hosted at the O2 Artisans Aggregate in Oakland, California.

The illustrations that were used in the menu and social media graphics derived from our concept development of each dish. The menu emerged as a risograph poster for guests to take home as a memento of this eating experience.

In addition to the menu, I created social media graphics for Illya Haro who helped promote and curate this event. These social graphics were displayed on Instagram, Facebook, Don Bugito's MailChimp newsletter and Eventbrite.
34/40 tickets were sold

Eating Design

The plate forms shown were specifically designed for the chiniquil corn custard dish. At the night of the event we presented these forms as a proof of concept for framing our Eating Landscape narrative.
